From Parking Lot to Cockpit

Here's exactly what your Discovery Flight looks like, start to finish.

01

You Arrive at KGEU

Show up at Glendale Regional Airport. Your CFI meets you at the flight school — no big terminal, no security lines.

Finding Us — GPS Tips

Heads up: GPS and Google Maps sometimes direct visitors to the wrong part of the airport. When you arrive, use this instead:

  1. Enter the airport and drive past the control tower
  2. Look for the hangar rows to the east
  3. Find the Delta Row hangar with the blue awning — that's us
  4. Park in front of pedestrian gate J (Juliet)

If you get turned around, contact your instructor directly for directions.

02

Quick Ground Briefing

Your CFI walks you through the Remos GX, what you'll see on the instruments, and what to expect in the air. This isn't a lecture — it's a quick practical conversation. 10–15 minutes and you're heading to the aircraft.

03

You Take the Controls

Once you're airborne, your CFI will let you actually fly the aircraft. Turns, climbs, straight and level — you have the controls. The Phoenix Valley opens up below you. This is the moment most people describe as life-changing.

04

Back on the Ground

After landing, your CFI answers your questions and walks you through what a training path would look like if you want to continue. No pressure — some people fly once for the experience. Others start training the same week. Both are fine.

Everything for $160. No Surprises.

The total cost is $160 — split into two simple payments. When you book online through FlightCircle, a $120 deposit covers the aircraft rental and is collected at booking. The remaining $40 instructor fee is paid directly to your CFI when you arrive for your flight. That's it — no hidden charges, no day-of surprises.

Before You Book

Is there a minimum age?

The minimum age for a Discovery Flight at Fly Eagle Sport is 14. Students under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign a waiver before the flight. No exceptions.

How far in advance do I need to book?

We recommend booking at least a week in advance. We do not take last-minute or same-day requests — instructor availability and aircraft scheduling require lead time, and most flights are set up 7–10 days ahead. If you're flexible on date, contact us and we'll find the first available opening.

Can international (non-U.S.) visitors take a Discovery Flight?

Yes — non-U.S. citizens are welcome to take a Discovery Flight. However, a Discovery Flight does not count as flight training toward any certificate until you have completed the TSA Flight Training Security Program (FTSP) process and received your Determination of Eligibility. If you intend to continue training afterward, you should begin your FTSP application well in advance of your visit — TSA processing typically takes 30 days or more. See our International Students (FTSP) page for the full process.

Do I need a medical certificate?

No. For a Discovery Flight as a passenger/student, no medical certificate is required. If you want to fly solo or pursue a Sport Pilot certificate, you'll need a valid U.S. driver's license instead of a medical — one of the advantages of the light sport category.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Arizona sun gets intense, so sunglasses are a good idea. We provide headsets — no need to bring your own.

Can I bring someone to watch?

The Remos GX is a 2-seat aircraft, so it's just you and your CFI in the air. Guests are welcome to wait at the flight school and see you land.

What if the weather is bad?

Arizona gives us 300+ flyable days a year, but weather does occasionally cause rescheduling. If we need to move your flight, we'll contact you in advance and find a new time at no charge.

Does this hour count toward my training?

Yes — your Discovery Flight is your first official flight hour. It's logged in your logbook just like any other lesson, and it counts toward your Sport or Private Pilot certificate. You're not just trying flying out — you're already doing it.

Is this a gift certificate option?

Yes. Contact us directly at customerservice@flyeaglesport.com or call 602-899-2028 and we'll set it up for you.
